Has anyone had their dog, more than likely a pointer if hunting timberdoodles, refuse to pick one up or even spit it out? My English Setter used to do that, and I have heard of other dogs doing it but have not personally seen others do it.

Never had that problem, but I did have a problem with a young dog that would try and eat them before I could get there.

Late post, but thought I would reply as I have been hunting timberdoodles for about 25 years now. I have not had a dog that reacted that way, but I would venture to guess they do that based on the habitat and eating habits of the birds. As sensitive as a dogs nose and mouth is, there is probably something there disagreeable that humans for the most part cannot detect.
