I see where a lot of versatile breeds are growing in popularity-Pudelpointers, Spinones, etc. Has anyone hunted behind the diverse breeds of hunting dogs? Are there any other unusual breeds that you have hunted behind? I know an outfitter in SD that actually has a blue heeler to hunt pheasants with!

I read an article in a Nebraska news paper about a man using a boxer for pheasants. I have also seen a group of people with 2 Boxers as well.

That is unusual to say the least. I hunted one time with a buddy who brought his uncle along and he brought out his Norwegian Elkhound to hunt pheasants with! Very bizarre site, and I don't remember the dog doing any flushes or retrieves, but he wasn't a real pain as far as his demeanor in the field. He didn't bother the other dogs or hunters, and he just prodded along about 20-30 yards ahead of his owner.
